Facebook event has also been created for it; you can "join" and you will receive updates as they become available.

We are so honored and grateful that Florida Sportsman has chosen our son, Dylan to be featured at this year's bash and tournament. The proceeds will go to benefit Dylan and help alleviate the burden of ongoing medical costs, as he faces the challenges of 4 rare congenital conditions and more!

We heard last year's bash and tournament was awesome, we can't wait to be a part of this year's and hope you can join us! They have some great prizes lined up for the top 3 finishers in each fish category and some cool prizes to be raffled off. The budget is a little tight without the big sponsors Florida Sportsman had last year. If you are in a position to donate, please do; every bit helps. They are also offering sponsorship positions for the bash where they will put your business name on the t-shirt under "A Good Time for a Good Cause." You can contact the Bash Chairman, Long Nguyen via email at long83nguyen@yahoo.com with questions.

If you are unable to make it to the event but would still like to make a donation, you can donate directly here:  "The Dylan Jouppi Fund".

You can read more about our story, Dylan and his diagnoses here:  All About Dylan.

March Jensen Beach / Stuart Fishing Report

The first part of March was relatively slow and not much to report for us.  We had our buddy, Deion down for spring break the last week of March.  Not sure how he is ever going to go back to Central Florida and bass fish after the week we had! We found a great wading snook bite. Waded anywhere from the flats just south of south bridge to the flats just north of the Jensen Beach Causeway, all on the west side. With the strong north winds we had, we didn't see many other waders. The fish were in very shallow water, never being more than knee to thigh deep. We used the Unfair Lures Rip N Slash and the Unfair Lures Mullet all week. Between three of us, we landed somewhere around 50 snook Tuesday through Thursday and broke off/pulled off some monsters. Deion even got a redfish! No signs of trout but that was fine with us. Ventured down south on Friday to see if we could find some peacock bass. Fished a stretch of canal in Ft.Lauderdale for an hour and landed 7 peacocks and 5 nice largemouth bass! Four people ended up catching their first peacocks ever! All in all, we couldn't have asked for a much better spring break and vacation!

With April here, we expect to see more of the same!

February Jensen Beach / Stuart Fishing Report

With February came the regular cold fronts, but the fishing remained good.  The flounder have started to show more on the flats of both the Indian and St. Lucie Rivers.  Along with the flounder, the pompano have been working their way north.  A 20 inch pompano was landed last week, north of the Jensen Beach Causeway.

The trout remain prevalent on the flats, though not as schooled up as expected for this time of year.  The "go to lure" for them has been the Unfair Lures Rip-N-Slash in just about any color.  When the winds kick up and you're forced to fish new waters, don't give up.  With a strong 20 mph wind earlier this month, we were forced to fish Fort Pierce, which was completely new to us.  We quickly landed two trout over 24 inches and our very first gag grouper!

Another option when the wind is howling is to resort to your neighborhood ponds.  We have been fly fishing the ponds around Jensen Beach and Stuart with great success, landing some very nice bass up to 6 pounds.

With March here, expect to see spring patterns and snook on the flats!

A Braid for all Situations!

Fishing is a sport that is constantly evolving, from rods that are lighter and stronger, to reels that have lightning fast retrieve speeds and more wear resistant components, to lures that have the appearance of bleeding gills and sponges inside soft plastics that hold scent cast after cast. All of these advancements are amazing and the tackle and lure makers should be commended for them; none however will help you put a single fish in the boat if you don't have line that's up to the task!  That's where WonderBraid comes in, over the past four years First Light Tackle has been testing and giving feedback in order to develop a braided fishing line that could do it all.  The result of this is WonderBraid!

A superior evenly wound braid that spools and casts smooth, it has passed the test of landing HUGE snook from around the bridges of Fort Pierce and Stuart, Florida to casting lightweight lures and soft plastics to redfish and trout on the flats.  WonderBraid is only available in pink (light red for the insecure angler).  The reason for this goes back to the inspiration for the name, "one braid" that can do it all; since pink is hi-vis above the water and very lo-vis under the water it was the best all around color choice.  WonderBraid is wound very tight, this means it is more resistant to digging in to itself on your spool (a common cause of wind knots).  WonderBraid has no "break-in period" so you can count on it casting perfectly from the day you spool it on your favorite reel!

We at Treasure Coast Tackle use everything we sell, this is why the WonderBraid article has taken a little while to post.  We wanted to test it ourselves under the bridges, around structure, on big fish and on the flats in windy conditions.  It pulled our big snook from around pilings and cast perfectly into a 15 mph wind on the flats.

We can say without a doubt that you will not find a braided fishing line on the market that performs as well as  WonderBraid for the price ($12.50/150yd spool).  A braid that performs like a high end superline, at a price every angler can afford, one braid....WonderBraid!  WonderBraid is available in 12, 20, 30 and 50lb spools at Treasure Coast Tackle.  For bulk spool pricing (1500yd), contact us by clicking this link or email david@treasurecoasttackle.com.

TIP:  To help eliminate wind knots on any braid, make sure to close the bail by hand and give a little tug on the line.  This will ensure you don't have a loop sticking up on your spool for line to snag on when you make your next cast causing a knot!
